EG Graphics is the in-house graphics department at Eastside High School in Paterson, NJ. It was founded in 2023 by Brian Sledge, Teacher of Graphic Design at Eastside!
It all started as an interdisciplinary graphic design curriculum that teaches Visual Communication, Presentation, Literacy, and Publishing skills through the creation of comic books and graphic novels. At its next stage, Mr. Sledge wanted to use this technique to create and display several posters representing the student body. Those posters soon became a recognized symbol of positive image at Eastside. As this began to increase in popularity with students and teachers, EG Graphics became a separate entity from the original graphic design curriculum...which he renamed CORE Graphics!
By the end of 2024, EG Graphics had become a thriving new department at Eastside High School with the launch of its signature event GhostCON©, and the release of its first-ever graphic novel "Those Marvelous Mittens"; under a new concept called Storyscape!
EG Graphics saw its next level of innovative concepts and initiatives in 2025, with the introduction of Ghost Comics Publishing, which publishes student-created comic books and graphic novels.
Mr. Sledge vows that this is only the beginning!
